We Are The Church: Love Is Moving Article

Today I’d like to share an article that I wrote for Love Is Moving‘s latest issue “From Death Comes Life.” Even in the darkness of the world and the pain of the pandemic that has been raging for over a year now, so many good things are happening.

For my piece, I focused on the change and growth that my church has experienced as the result of being a portable church without a permanent building as we moved to our newest meeting space: online.

We know that the church is not a building. The church is not a website. We are the Church. And we are not alone!

Change is hard and we long for comfort and familiarity, but it’s only through change that we can grow; and only in the darkness can you see the full beauty and power of the light. Amazing things can happen when we go beyond our comfort zones. This change has taught us about love and enabled us to grow in faith and serve others in ways we may have never imagined.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)
