At the end of the year, it’s nice to reflect on the past twelve months and then to look ahead. What successes have you had, and what was challenging? How did you learn and grow? What are you excited about in the year to come?
Here are my top five highlights of 2021, and three things I’m looking forward to in 2022!

Trouble Over Maldi: Unlocked Short Story!
Well, it happened: another milestone on the writing adventure. After many years of writing stories, I have my first one published! It’s a short story in Unlocked Daily Readings for Teens. The fact that it’s science fiction is especially exciting for me—the first novel I ever wrote was science fiction.
Why Should I Journal? – Journaling Benefits, Tips, and Inspiration
I’ve kept journals off and on throughout my life, but on March 3, 2016, I restarted journaling in full force and have been writing nearly every day since. Daily journaling has had a huge impact on my life, so I thought I would share some benefits I discovered and tips and inspiration I have forContinue reading “Why Should I Journal? – Journaling Benefits, Tips, and Inspiration”
Purpose Beyond an Audience: Love Is Moving Article
The purpose of writing is to share truth and stories with others, and we write on blogs to build a community of readers. But what happens when we write for a purpose greater than an audience? Being a Christian artist can be a challenging topic to explore, but in Love Is Moving magazine’s latest issue,Continue reading “Purpose Beyond an Audience: Love Is Moving Article”
2021: New Year, New Adventures
A new year is like a new notebook: A fresh start, full of new opportunities. Stark and white as the midwinter snow around us, the crisp blank pages eagerly await to be filled margin-to-margin with adventures. But we have to live out our story before we can write it down. Merry Christmas Everyone!
Snow dusts the trees, and the ground is covered in white. Crimson cardinals and viridian pines contrast with a world frozen in stark black-and-white. Snowflakes glimmer against the bright blue sky and positively sparkle against the long moonlit nights. Everything seems quieter. Peaceful. The world slows down around Christmastime. Well, except for us people. WeContinue reading “Merry Christmas Everyone!”
Sweet Gifts of Love: My First Magazine Article!
It finally happened! After years of dreaming about writing for a magazine, my very first article is now published: “Sweet gifts of love: Baking cookies for strangers during the pandemic.” Writing this piece for Love Is Moving has been an amazing adventure into the unknown world of magazine writing, and I’ve already learned so much.Continue reading “Sweet Gifts of Love: My First Magazine Article!”
The Secret Writer
Sometimes I think I’m the most secretive writer ever. I hide in the corner with a laptop and hide my screen when someone comes near. When someone asks me what my story is about, I say, “an adventure” (truthful, but too vague to mean anything). I fumble over my words when asked for a plotContinue reading “The Secret Writer”
A Celebration: One Year Website Anniversary!
One year ago today, I started my website journey! The idea began out of countless desperate internet searches: “How to get a book published.” “Writing tips.” “Steps to getting published.” “Becoming a published writer.” “Tips for aspiring authors.” Many articles I read pointed towards starting a website or blog: to get your work out there,Continue reading “A Celebration: One Year Website Anniversary!”
Identity: Faith and Writing – My First Guest Blog Post!
A few months back, I emailed a friend and fellow writer, Ruth Ann of mytapestryofgrace.blogspot.com, to ask if she would like to do a guest blog post exchange. Both new to the blogging world, I thought it would be a great opportunity for us to practice our online writing skills and share our work withContinue reading “Identity: Faith and Writing – My First Guest Blog Post!”
